Development and Protection of Beaches at La Croisette with Geotube® Systems
The Mediterranean Coast on the French Riviera is regularly battered by heavy seas and storms, with waves over 5m high and wind speeds of over 100km/hour. The city of Cannes, like all French towns situated along the Mediterranean, experiences these extreme weather conditions, which have led to severe damage to several restaurants and beach facilities in recent years.
TenCate Geotube® systems and scour aprons were installed in sections as offshore submerged breakwaters. During and after installation the systems prove to properly resist storms and high wave impact protecting the valuable beach, walking promenade and properties at la Croisette.
